Read: 2 Corinthians 7:5-10
Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. 2 Corinthians 5:9 KJV
Feeling guilty is an emotion.
It is an emotion that is brought on by our negative conduct.
One that occurs when we realize that we have gone against a true standard of conduct.
The more we self-evaluate our situation is where a change can come.
We begin to bear the responsibility for our actions.
Those are the times we make the necessary changes in how we do things.
We must be open about our feelings and practice self-forgiveness.
But most of all we must seek Spiritual Guidance.
It comes with great knowledge and wisdom.
The Father is the greatest form of professional help we could ever ask for.
He is the Master in showing us how to get rid of the feelings of guilt and sorrow.
As quoted by Thomas Moore as relating to Isaich 35:10: “Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.”
Paul praised the Corinthians.
He praised them for being able to understand the differences between worldly sorrow and godly sorrow.
His first letters to them were sharp and painful.
All because he was speaking to them about the issues regarding sin.
This brought sorrow amongst the people.
Paul rejoiced.
He did so, not because of the worldly sorrow they were feeling.
It was because their sorrow was also a godly sorrow.
One that was a genuine feeling of guilt for their sins.
It was a feeling that led them to repentance.
To change their way of thinking.
Helping to break any bonds of sin that were holding them.
They turned their lives to God.
Receiving total deliverance from their sins.
The same can happen in our lives.
God desires good for the lives of us all.
We all go through things that can cause us to turn from His ways.
Even if only for a second.
Because of His care our hearts become humble.
We willingly accept His leadership.
The saving faith of Christ is our way to repentance.
The way to true atonement.
Giving us a victory.
One where sin will no longer have control of our lives.
We walk in a newness of life.
That is why we must stay rooted in the Word.
It is the only way to fight off any worldly thoughts.
The ones that cause our actions to go against the Word.
To rebuke the snares of the devil.
Making it where the Holy Ghost takes the lead in our lives.
The greatest life known to man.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that sin is to have no place in our lives. We rejoice in the fact that when we repent of our sins, the Holy Ghost is there to help lead and guide us. That the Holy Ghost is a great gift from You. Let us ask daily for the forgiveness needed because of our thoughts and deeds. We will find nothing but peace and joy when we do.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
