Read: Job 2:7-13 / Job 1:13-22
But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips. Job 2:10 KJV
In life we can find ourselves getting into situations in a way that is not planned or controlled.
One-minute things are calm and relaxing, then suddenly things change.
It becomes a time when our faith in God can really be tested.
Satan has a way of stealing our affection for our loving God.
He is constantly trying to give us the impression that God is not there for us.
That because of our experiences, we should not trust God.
Job is just one example of how this can happen.
Job and his wife had many reasons to be mad at God.
They had lost their children; their fortune was lost, and Job’s health was destroyed.
His wife even said to him, “Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die” (Job 2:9 KJV).
But Job, being the man of God that he was replied, “Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips” (Job 2:10 KJV).
Despite all that he had lost, he still trusted in the Father.
And he was victorious in the end.
The devil is always trying to tempt us to lose our faith and let sin prevail in our lives.
Those are the times we can be like Job, who stood strong in his trials and came out victorious.
Remaining humble under the mighty hands of God.
Let grace take the upper hand.
Knowing that our faith and trust in God will always change our ways of thinking.
Putting us in a place of power over our situations.
Whenever we begin to feel like we are drifting away from God, remember what His Word has told us.
He will never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:8 KJV).
He is the sole source of our satisfaction.
He has a plan for each of our lives and will always be there to help us.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that Satan is always coming after us. As Your children, he is always trying to get us to lose our faith and trust in You. We will not let temptations have the upper hand. We know that there are too many blessings You have predetermined for our lives, and we want to receive them. Thank You that by Your grace we have the upper hand in any situation we face. Let us keep a spirit like Job.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
