And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8 KJV
Fervent Charity means “wholeheartedly”.
It is the pure love that our Savior has shown us.
How He loves us despite all the mistakes we have made.
The same love we are to show each other.
We all know that our Christian walk can be hard at times.
That throughout our lifetime we are going to be faced with many situations.
In all our duties and services, we must remember where all our strength comes from.
It all comes from the love God has shown us.
The love He shows us every day.
We receive beneficial guidance the more we read the Word.
Satan is always trying to stir up divisions and strife in the world.
Ones that can cause relationships to be broken.
Ones that cause families to be torn apart.
He is the leader in causing disagreements between people.
It often starts when a person knows they have done wrong.
They continue down the wrong path despite others trying to help them.
Those are the times when we must show pure love, which comes from the heart.
We show genuine concern and compassion for them.
Keeping them in prayer.
We all know that Word-based prayers have a way of changing things.
Then something happens.
The person being prayed for finally realizes the position they are in.
That they need help.
That the wise words previously spoken did have meaning.
They have an awakening like the prodigal son.
They realize their mistakes and humbly come to ask for help (Luke 15:11-32 KJV).
Those are the times we must continue to hold fast to the Word.
To be like the prodigal son’s father and welcome them back with open arms.
Knowing that despite how things were happening, love must prevail.
God has told us “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8 NIV).
Abiding by His Word will make it possible for us to continue to forgive.
Making it possible to set aside the things that hinder our relationships.
Continuing to reach out to them no matter how deeply they may have fallen.
Praying that as time goes by their ways continue to change.
That their future is brighter.
When we make it our choice to do things God’s way, we are saying the glory of God is our chief end.
That the love we show is real.
That we desire to always receive guidance.
The guidance that helps us understand how to handle these tough times.
To let His good Spirit always take the lead.
Keep striving to live according to the Word.
When we do, the more excellent the reward each of us can receive.
Father, we know it may take some time for someone to realize the road they are taking is leading them in a wrong direction. Let us continue to be serious and earnest in the ways we show our love to one another. Always leaning on the Word for the guidance we need to do things the right way. You are the greatest example of what showing love really means.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
