By Faith, Always Devoted to A Really Great Cause

READ: Romans 16:1-16

I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea: That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also. Romans 16:1, 2 KJV

Each of us have different characteristics and behaviors that make us who we are.

We all have something special to contribute to society.

But it does not end there.

God has given each of us something to contribute to the kingdom.

When we made the choice to give our lives to Him, we were also saying we wanted to be used by Him.

That we wanted to do that which is pleasing in His sight.

In this chapter, Paul acknowledges many who have been servants unto Christ.

The first two verses commend a woman named Phoebe.

She was described as “a servant of the church” (Romans 16:1 KJV).

As someone who has been a helper of many and himself included (Romans 16:2 KJV).

She was a good example of one who was dedicated in her service to the Lord.

Many feel that only the Christian workers who can provide good service are those who hold clergy titles in the church.

We must remember that the faithful efforts of all believers are what the Lord has ordained for each of our lives.

Each of us have something that God has gifted us with.

To be there to help one another.

Phoebe is just one of many examples.

She showed how meaningful it is for Christians to help one another in their affairs.

Not only the people we know, but strangers too.

Remembering that one day we may need help ourselves.

That is why the Lord had ordained all of us to do our part.

Even the smallest of things will make a difference in someone’s life.

We all play a part in spreading the Word.

Our commitment to doing it can help someone win any battle they are fighting.

May we never forget that our position does not matter.

It is the love and the help we give each other that is not forgotten.

The Father sees it all and our names are written on His Honor Roll of the faithful.

Let us put forth every effort to remain on it.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we all have different personalities. Ones that You desire to use for the building of the kingdom. They are most seen when we show concern for our neighbors and friends when comfort or help is needed. When we testify of the love You have for us. Knowing that even if we don’t receive the same recognition as others, we will still hear You say, “Well done.” Thank You for gracing us with the knowledge we need to do our part.

In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
