Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 1 Peter 5:5 KJV
There will always be a time when someone younger will seek wisdom.
Making it their desire to seek guidance from someone older than themselves.
It is one of the best ways to learn new things and grow in knowledge.
Those who have lived life know first-hand how things happen and what’s best in life.
That is a good thing.
It helps us to see how things can be in our lives and the way to avoid those that would be harmful.
In this passage, younger is not just relating to our physical age but to our growth in the knowledge of the Lord.
It relates to the early stages in which someone begins to really learn about all that the Lord desires for their lives.
Their fellowship in a church that is faith driven helps them to grow.
Not only do they learn from hearing the Word preached, but they also learn from those who have been living the life of faith.
They are considered elders.
Elders because they have obtained knowledge from the Word and have remained steadfast in abiding by it.
That is why the Lord has instructed those who have already received Him in their lives to be there to help in the growth of others.
We all have been in the position of being young in faith.
Learning how to rebuke the temptations that come our way and do things the right way.
We were blessed to have someone in our lives that humbled themselves as the Father directed.
Willing to share all they know about living a faith filled life.
We all are to submit to Him and give Him glory in everything we do.
Humility is Gods way of preserving peace in all areas of our lives.
Keeping us from letting pride get in the way.
Wisdom, faith, and holiness abounds when we receive His grace.
The greatest comfort to our souls.
A goal we all should desire to reach.
In all we do, let us give glory to God.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we all seek to learn more about the plans You have for our lives. Let us be there for one another. Growing in the wisdom and grace that only comes when we stay in fellowship with one another. Willing to help spread the knowledge we obtain. Never feeling that we know everything. Casting all our cares on You. Striving to remain humble in all we do. Taking delight in our Kingdom service. Always wanting to give glory to Your name in all we do. We give You honor and praise.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
