I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. John 6:51 KJV
In the Bible, for the ancient Israelites bread was their essential food.
Bread, or manna, came to be known to mean life, nourishment and the means of support needed.
The Jewish leaders even referred to bread as spiritual food.
The benefits were limited to this life.
We could only feed on it while it was available.
When it was gone, we would starve, and our lives would come to an end.
In this reading Jesus was explaining that He is the Bread of Life.
The Word of God made flesh.
He took on human nature to present Himself as the sacrifice for the sins of the world.
To purchase everything that dealt with living a life of godliness.
Giving all of us the chance to repent and believe in Him.
Even though He died on the cross, He is in Heaven looking down on us.
He is still the living Bread.
Continuing to give us the nourishment we need to live.
A Bread so excellent that any man who focused on the Word shall never die.
It was God’s way of making provision for His people.
He has always wanted the best for us.
Sin is always trying to take our Bread away from us.
Because Jesus was made flesh and dwelt among us, we can defeat sin.
The sacrifice He made was to provide us with physical and spiritual nourishment.
Everything we need to live a life eternal (John 6:48-51 KJV).
Take the time to nourish your soul with the Bread of Life.
It is so easily done through our prayers and meditation on God’s Word.
There is nothing like the love we feel when we stay close to Him.
He is the Bread of Life that supplies all our needs.
Take the time to feast on It.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that Jesus is our Bread of Life. The only Bread that can satisfy our Spiritual hunger. You have told us that if we eat of this Bread we will live forever. When we feed on the Word and speak with You daily, we get the strength we need. It is the only way we remain saved and safe from all harm. Thank You for Your loving sacrifice.
