How To Be The Light That Shines In Darkness

Read:  Philippians 2:12-18

Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.  Philippians 2:14-15 KJV

It is no secret that we live “in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation (Philippians 2:15).

We are constantly reminded everyday.

We are living in a world that is falling.

Our sinful ways, things in the news and the things in society have taken us to a place where we do bad and evil things.

Against all this things, as followers of Christ we are to be “lights in the world” (v. 15).

But we all know that sometimes our conduct shows a dim and misleading impression of Him.

Not because that is who He is, but because our human nature tries to take control.

That is why Paul was warning us against “complaining and disputing” (v. 14) and advised us to put our salvation to work with reverence for God (vv. 12-13).

He was saying this because he knew we needed to be spiritually alert to evil.

To stop it before it manifests itself in our lives.

As we do His will, we “become blameless and harmless children of God without fault” (v.15).

It is the life we lead and the words we speak that makes our testimonies ring true.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Savior, we know there will be dark things in this world that seem to be overpowering. Causing us to express ourselves in a manner not pleasing. Our strength to endure comes from You. We must keep from complaining and disputing about them and put our trust in You. We can do all things through You.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
