Life in Our Words

Read: Proverbs 10:11-21

The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. Proverbs 10:11 KJV

On our Christian journey, these are a few questions we must ask ourselves.

What will your answer be?

Really think about it. It will make a difference in your life.

Here we go.

Have I taken the time to think about what effect my words have?

Does what I say about someone, or something bring encouragement and emotional support?

Am I primarily a positive or negative person?

Take the time to think about your answers.

Your answers have an impact on those around you. and to your life.

When we are not sure if we are doing something the right way, we can always seek guidance in the Word.

The things we learn are encouraging.

It will always keep us on the right track.

The Book of Proverbs is considered the Old Testament book of “wisdom”.

It contains verses that express the truth for living the life God desires for us.

How we should be doing the things that benefit our lives and those around us.

The way we speak to others is important.

It determines how readily someone will receive what we are saying.

The Word tells us that a good man’s mouth is always open to teach, comfort, and correct others in a positive way.

We can do it because the Lord has taught, comforted, and corrected us.

In this passage, we learn that:

“The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life” (v.10).

“The tongue of the just is as choice silver” (v.20).

“The lips of the righteous feed many” (v.21).

Therefore, a person who is righteous and living according to the Word will be determined to always speak words that nourish and encourage others.

We are to be like the Savior and speak life-giving words.

Let us choose our words wisely.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we know we must be careful of the words we speak. Our words set an atmosphere that can be positive or negative. We want them to be positive. We want to be like You and speak life-giving words. To encourage and lift the spirits of others. Righteous in all our ways. Thank You Father.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
