Read: Matthew 23:37-43 / Luke 8:40-56

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Matthew 25:40 KJV

There is a story that many of us have heard.

It is about a young man that was walking on a beach one morning.

He stopped to watch an older gentleman who was picking up starfish and tossing them back in the sea.

The older man saw the young man looking at him.

He knew what he was thinking and made the comment that he was rescuing the starfish before the hot summer sun could bake them.

In a not so polite manner, the young man said, “There must be hundreds of starfish here. How can you make any difference?”

The older man stopped what he was doing.

He looked at the starfish in his hand and before throwing it into the wave said, “It makes a big difference to this one.”

He knew if his efforts could save one life it was worth it.

That is how the Savior felt.

Jesus never let the crowds he encountered keep Him from helping individuals.

In Luke 8:40-56, we read how the multitudes pressed about Him.

How He took the time to minister to one man and one woman in need.

How what He did made a difference in their lives.

The Savior has called us to do the same.

We may not do it amongst great multitudes, but we all can make a difference in someone’s life.

Remembering that the Lord has told us, “As ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” (Matthew 25:40).

We must do what we can to encourage as many as we can.

Knowing that there is nothing wrong with doing it just one person at a time.

Keeping them in our prayers and watch God do the rest.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Savior, just like the old man desired to save the life of one starfish, that is how we should look at our call to minister to others about You. To show them how much the Word means to us. That we appreciate all that You have done for us. That we care about their lives and their salvation. Just like we desire to do the right things towards You, we will do the same to others.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
