Life Eternal

Read: John 17:1-5, 20-26

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. John 17:3 KJV

We all have had our moments when we wished something we were doing had no end.

That it was something that would last forever.

Eternal life, as defined in the Bible, is without end.

It begins with our relationship with God.

The Savior defined eternal life in this passage to our knowing the true God in a private and personal way.

When we acknowledge Him in our lives, we come to know that He sent Jesus to atone for our sins and is the sinner’s way to eternal life (John 17:3).

Our way to holiness and happiness.

Each day of our lives we are moving toward eternal living.

His sacrifice made it possible for us to be “with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

It is up to us to decide if we desire to live our lives filled with joy or with fear.

Making the choice if our final resting place will be with Him and those who followed Christ or those who did not and chose the path of sin.

We want to be able to pray like Jesus and tell the Father how we have glorified Him on earth: we have finished the work which He has sent us to do. That we kept His Word (John 17:4, 6).

That when He calls us home, Heaven is our place of life eternal.

The place where we will dwell with the Father.

To glory in His presence forevermore (v.5).

How do you want to spend eternity?

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we know that eternal means something that will last forever. That is what our lives will be when we follow the example that Jesus has set for us. That when we glorify You and keep Your commands, we have eternal life. Glorifying You is the only way for a sinner to find joy and happiness. Your ‘free’ gift to all mankind. Thank You for the love You show us.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
