When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 1 Corinthians 13:11 KJV
The behavior of a person could be seen as childish or childlike.
Those acting in a childish way exhibit anger, a bad temper, and a negative attitude.
Those acting in a childlike way exhibit one that is humble, grateful, and positive.
Both ways can also be found in our Spiritual lives.
Paul was speaking about how presently the people were living in a childish way and how it would cause problems for their future manhood.
He told them that “when [he] was a child, [he] spake as a child, [he] understood as a child, [he] thought as a child: but when [he] became a man, [he] put away childish things” (v.11).
He learned what it meant to not get angry or have a temper tantrum when God told him “No” or “Wait” about something he wanted.
How God was using his pain and disappointment to make him an even better man of God. Holy and righteous.
How things would turn out better as he grew in faith.
God wants the same for all of us.
He wants us to turn from our childish ways.
To learn to make our ways mor childlike.
To have faith in what He is telling us.
Our faith helps us to stand even when we don’t understand why He isn’t letting us do things our way.
To focus on God and trust Him.
Admitting our weaknesses gives us strength to grow and mature.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, help us to turn from our childish ways. To be childlike. Meaning we will be more humble, grateful, and positive. That when we are, the more we please You. Thank You for keeping us safe from all the difficulties we may face. Thank You for making our lives more positive and comfortable.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
