Drop Everything

Read: Matthew 18:17-23

And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. Matthew 4:20 KJV

When we feel led to do something, we are willing to take the necessary measures to go after that service or purpose with everything we have.

We are excited about the journey ahead.

But there can also be times when we begin to have our moments of doubts.

Times when we question if we are really the right person to handle things.

We have our fears of leaving our normal routines.

We find ourselves being like Moses, in the Bible.

He had his doubts and fears when God had called him to go to Pharaoh and bring His people, the children of Israel out of Egypt (Exodus3:10).

God knew he had the abilities, as a leader, to handle the matter.

Moses needed to step out in faith.

Needless to say that after questioning his calling and wanting someone else to go instead, Moses finally obeyed God.

He was successful in the end.

God knows that we can do what He desires.

If He didn’t, He would not have placed it on our hearts to do it.

The more we realize this, we will be like the disciples in this passage.

When Jesus called them, they left everything and followed Him (Matthew 4:20-22).

They knew it wasn’t going to be like the outings they were used to, but they left their fishing gear to become fishers of men.

They put their faith and trust in the Lord.

We may not be called to move away from where we live, but we will have to make the necessary sacrifices to do His will.

God open doors that confirm where He desires us to be and make sure that we have everything we need to accomplish His goals.

Fear is a natural thing, but with the Lord on our side we can overcome it.

So, no matter how difficult it may seem, let us be the ones who “straightway” leave the comfort zones we are in and “follow [the Lord]”

Let us be the living testimonies of all the wonderful, life-changing miracles He has and will perform in our lives and the lives of others.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, there will be times when we question our calling. We are not to be like Moses, but like the disciples. Ready to follow Your lead with no questions of doubt. Knowing that no matter what it takes, we will remain faithful and devoted to the cause, ideal or purpose. We want to be one of the ones that willingly follow Your lead.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
