Put On the New Self

Read: Colossians 3:14-20

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Colossians 3:17 KJV

Circumstances occur in our lives that cause us to make changes in the way we handle things.

It could be the search for a new job because of unforeseen layoffs, or even the need to leave a job to care for a sick loved one.

Whatever the reason, it can be frustrating, causing us to feel angry and question why it is happening.

We don’t know how we are going to make it through, but those are the times when we need to pray and let the peace of God rule in our hearts (v.15).

Times to do as we are told in the Word and “let the word of Christ dwell in [us] richly in all wisdom” (v.16).

He will lead, guide and give us the strength we need to make It through.

What He tells us may not be what we want to hear.

It may be because He is challenging us to make certain changes and, in the end, help us to see the benefits of it.

Our souls prosper when we feast on the Scriptures and the grace that the Lord shows us.

No matter what we go through, the Lord can use it as a way for us to be a witness and tell others about how He has brought us through and sing to Him a song of heartfelt praise (v.16).

Believing and depending on Him.

Always doing things “in the name of the Lord Jesus” and always “giving thanks to God” (v.17).

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we find great encouragement, hope and mercy when we seek Your guidance. You are forever patient with us. Help us to continue to study our hearts and our ways. To remain prayerful and whatever we do, be it in word or deed, that we do it all in Your name. To put on a new self. Giving You all the praise. Thank You for helping us grow and be sensitive to what You want for our lives.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
