Battle Plans

Read: Psalms 39:4-13

And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee. Psalms 39:7 KJV

When we think of battles, the first thing that comes to mind is a fight between armed forces.

Both sides are trained and have a plan on how to win the fight.

A battle can also be described as a dispute, a heated argument or any conflict we encounter.

Sin causes disputes, heated arguments and many moments of conflict.

It is our battle against what will keep us from doing the right thing and listening to the Lord, letting Him fight the battle for and with us.

For any of us to be victorious, we must do our part.

Psalms 39 is written by David.

One of the many testimonials that he gives regarding the painful process of restoration from the terrible sins he encountered in his life.

He was telling God, “I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred. My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue (vv.2-3).

He began to reflect on his life, praying to the Father asking Him to “make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am” (v.4).

He wanted to be granted the wisdom he needed to have in a season when correction for his sins was in order.

In the end, David survived it all and went on to serve the Lord.

There is no battle to great for our Savior.

No matter what we are going through, all things will work out according to His perfect will.

Our prayer in times such as these is our way of meditating on how fragile we are, talking to the Lord about our sins, and ending our prayer with a request for peace in our lives.

God is our source of hope.

He is there to help in the battle against the armed forces in our lives.

There is no sadness, sorrows, conflicts or sin that befalls us that the Lord doesn’t know about.

Battles come to help strengthen us and remind us that, the battle is not ours; it is the Lord’s.

Our prayers are the reminder that the Lord is our source of hope.

A reminder that we are never alone.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Savior, we know that the best place for us to be is rooted and grounded in the Word. That our prayers are the source of our hope in You. Forgive us for thinking we can do things on our own. When we do, we find ourselves deep in sin, disputes, heated arguments and many moments of conflict. Thank You for being there for us and drawing us close to You. For letting us know we are never alone.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
