Good Instructions

Read: Psalms 119:32-40

Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight. Psalms 119:35 KJV

School was out, it was the weekend, and the sky was blue.

The kids put away their backpacks and immediately asked if they could go outside to play.

I thought about it, told them yes, but made sure they understood they were to stay in the backyard.

The yard was fenced in, and I didn’t have to worry about them running into the street.

I also reminded them of what the consequences would be if they did not do as they were told.

They had a good time.

It is always our desire for our kids to have a good time, but make sure they are okay.

That is what God desires for us in this verse of Psalms.

He gives us commands and when we follow them, we find joy.

He is always keeping an eye on us and never fails to say something to us when we fail to follow His instructions.

When we follow them, it allows us to avoid the punishment that comes from the choices we wish we had not made.

We won’t have a feeling of guilt but one of joy.

Just like parents direct out of love, so does God.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we know that the instructions You give us are for our good. Knowing, just like the Psalmist, that we will find delight in and worship You for all the choices we make. Thank You for the love and protection You show us every day.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
