Grateful: The Best Given, Now Take a Much-Needed Rest

Read: Mark 6:28-34

And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. Mark 6:31 KJV

There will always be a time when we need to take a rest.

To cease from working or movement.

A time in which we take a moment to refresh ourselves and recover strength.

To give our bodies and minds time to rest.

On most jobs, employees are allowed to take two breaks during the workday.

Even when we are doing things around the house, we take the time to rest and relax.

We are more productive when we do.

From the beginning, in the Old Testament, God has stressed the importance of rest.

“And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made” (Genesis 2:3 KJV).

If God did it, it must have great meaning.

When Jesus saw that the disciples were tired after they had returned from a prolonged period of ministry, He decreed unto them take time off and rest (Mark 6:31 KJV).

We all should take His examples to heart.

We are most productive in the Kingdom when we take care of ourselves.

When we listen to what the Father is telling us about getting the proper rest.

It can start by determining what is a good time to sit back and relax.

Both physically and mentally.

It is His command that we renew ourselves.

Emotionally and spiritually.

It will help us to be at our best for the Lord.

Today, take the time to determine when you will relax and renew yourself.

What a difference it will make in your life.

You will be glad you did.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, there are many of us who get run down because we fail to rest. We know if our body, soul and spirit are to function properly we must take the time to rest. Giving our minds and spirit the chance to be renewed. Making it possible for us to continue to have the strength to do our work in the ministry. We vow to take time for leisure and time to relax. We are following Your lead.

In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
