But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 1 Timothy 6:11 KJV
With the way things are in society today, it is not hard for any one of us to get caught up in things not pleasing. Things that cause us great sorrow (vv. 9-10).
To many things that, we as followers of Christ, should not have anything to do with.
The Lord has given us the ability to “flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, [and] meekness” (v. 11).
If we don’t our close relationship with God is in trouble.
We can find ourselves in conflict with corruption, and temptations.
Fighting against the powers of darkness.
We are to remain strong in the Word and let it take control of our lives.
Defeating anything that the world tries to bring our way.
It means we will not to let anything in our lives come between us and our fellowshipping with the Lord.
Eternal life is the crown proposed for our encouragement.
It is the goal that we must keep a focus on.
Knowing “that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).
Not the ways of the world.
That we “are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that [we] should shew forth the praises of him who hath called [us] out of darkness into his marvellous light” (1 Peter 2:9).
Nothing that the world has to offer is more valuable than what the Lord is giving us now and is to come.
Be the one to flee from the things of the world and pursue righteousness.
Fighting the “good fight of faith” (v.12).
You will be happy that you did.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we all have a calling on our lives. There will be times when the things of the world can cause us to go astray. Help us to see them and stand clear of them. The Word gives us everything we need to fight a good fight of faith and be victorious. The way You keep us in Your everlasting arms. Thank You for all You do.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
