Hard But Wise Decisions

So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, Let the LORD even require it at the hand of David’s enemies. 1 Samuel 20:16 KJV

We all have a God-given free will to choose what we will do in life. Sometimes we choose a path that God does not intend for us to take.

Paths can lead to many trials and separation from the ones we love. But in the end can help us with our future endeavors.

The Lord does not put us into immediate possession of the kingdom but deals with and leads us through our tribulations. A means of making us fit for it.

Although Jonathan was King Saul’s son, he saw God’s blessings on David and recognized the envy and pride of his father.

He faithfully promised that he would let David know how his father felt towards him.

He knew that the throne would never be his, because he did not agree with what his father was trying to do, but that did not matter.

David had become his closest friend and he would do anything to save his life.

It will be kindness to ourselves and to ours, to secure an interest in those whom God favours, and to make His friends ours.

Some would say Jonathan gave up too much.

When we fully understand the love of Jesus, who gave himself as a sacrifice for rebellious, polluted sinners, then we will understand what a true friendship means.

There will be those who will be against us, but the sacrifices we make each day can make a difference in someone’s life.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, the separation of two such faithful friends was grievous to them both. We will all have a time when we will leave the comforts we have come to know. To listen to the calling we have on our lives. We are not without hope. Being one with You, means we are one with each other. A true friendship that will never end.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
