People all over the world are trying to find hope in something or someone that they can connect with. They need a hero or someone to rescue them.
When Jesus was born, the people of Israel were oppressed and longed for the promised Messiah. Many anticipated a hero that would deliver them from the Romans.
However, Jesus did not come as the hero they anticipated. He came as a baby to the town of Bethlehem. Resulting in many missing out on who He was.
John the Baptist came to bear witness concerning Jesus.
Nothing more fully showed us the darkness of men’s minds, than that when the Light had appeared, there needed a witness to call attention to it.
More than a hero, Jesus came as our Savior. Born to bring God’s light into a dark world, so that everyone that would receive Him could have their sins forgiven, freed from the power of sin and live life abundantly.
John called Him “the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”
Christ is the true Light. That great Light which deserves to be called so.
He is the one true hope that the world needs.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord. By Your Spirit and Grace, we are enlightened to salvation and those that are not enlightened by You, perish in darkness. That You were in the world, but not of it. You were here to save a lost world, because it was a world of Your own making. We thank God for demonstrating His love for us. You are our Savior, and we praise You for coming to die that we might live.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
