Read: Colossians 3:13-19 / Deuteronomy 31:16-22
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Colossians 3:16 KJV
Music is something we all enjoy.
Most often it relates to how we are feeling.
It helps us say what is on our minds.
It also has a way of changing the way we see things.
Music is presented to us in many ways.
The words can be sung or spoken.
It can be done with or without music.
Most often it is with instruments.
No matter how it is done, it is presented in such a way that gets our attention.
God has a place for music in our Spiritual live.
It also is something that is beautiful, full of harmony and gives the expression of different emotions.
He taught Moses to use music in a bold and challenging way.
He did it because He knew the sinfulness of His people would distract them when they began to enjoy the prosperity of the Promised Land (Deuteronomy 31:21 KJV).
That is why He told Moses to teach the people the song of Deuteronomy 32.
The message was extremely startling.
It was a song of warning.
One that was meant to get the attention of those who would forget about God.
He was showing what it meant to have their lives filled with trouble.
How He was not pleased with their actions.
Our wise and loving Father does the same with us.
There are sacred songs, poems, hymns, and spiritual songs that are constantly reminding of us of God’s faithfulness and amazing grace.
We all benefit when we “let the word of Christ dwell in (us) richly in all wisdom.”
It encourages us to always be “teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.”
To always be “singing with grace in (our) hearts to the Lord” (Colossians 3:16 KJV).
A wonderful way for us to reflect on all that He has done for us.
For all that He will do as we journey through life.
It is the greatest way for us to receive our blessings.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that songs of praise You will always hear. We know it brings peace to our hearts. Reminding us that when we do Your will nothing prevails against us. May we continue to seek to do things Your way. Always reading the Word, but also getting it through the songs of praise we hear. Thank You for all the wisdom we receive when we really listen to the Word being sung.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
