Mountains Become Plains

Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it. Zechariah 4:7 KJV

What do we do when there are mountains in our way?

We can look at the prophet Zerubbabel, one of the leaders of Israel who returned from exile and found favor with God.

His mountain was the rebuilding of the temple. A task that must have seemed impossible to him.

He didn’t have the support he needed, because the people were discouraged, had enemies and lacked resources.

It can often seem impossible when we are trying to make changes in our lives. We often feel we lack the support and resources that we need to accomplish our goals.

God sent Zachariah to remind Zerubbabel that the task he would endeavor would take something more powerful than individual power, or man-made resources. That it would take the Spirit’s power.

With this assurance of Divine aid, Zerubbabel trusted that God would level any mountain of difficulty that stood in the way.

Just like God was the Divine aid for Zerubbabel Christ is ours. He goes before the Father on our behalf. Our faith in Him will remove mountains and make them plains.

Let us not rely on our own strengths but trust in the Lord’s power. His power can level the mountains in our lives or give us the strength and endurance to climb over it.
