Never Out Of Sight

And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me? Genesis 16:13 KJV

There are times in our lives when we just need someone to talk too.

Someone who will understand our hurt, our pain.

Someone that can help us understand why these things are happening.

The story here is about a young handmaid, named Hagar.

She was a slave of Abram and Sarai.

Her story shows us just how life-giving this can be.

What we can feel when someone understands our pains.

Sarai could not have children and urged Abram to have one with Hagar.

While disturbing, it was common in those days.

When Hagar became pregnant, things changed, and tensions flared.

She fled into the wilderness to escape Sarai’s abuse.

Hagar was out of her place of comfort.

She was out of the way of her duty. and going further astray.

We are told that those who leave their space and duty, must hasten their return.

No matter how shameful it may be.

An Angel appeared to Hagar and declared, “I will,” which shows this Angel was the eternal Word and Son of God.

That the Lord is with absolute certainty, with us all the time.

We all have been in situation unbecoming and have heard from the Lord.

It is a great mercy to be stopped in a sinful way, either by our feelings within or by the protective care of God.

Just like with Hagar, when we remember who we are, it will often teach us our duty.

Inquiring from where we have come, will show us our sin and foolishness.

Considering where we shall go, shows us all the danger and misery we may still face.

We must continue forward in our duties and correcting our unbecoming ways.

Knowing that the Lord has His Angels all around us.

We could not but admire the Lord’s mercy.

That even though we are unworthy, we found favor with Him.

Hagar acknowledged this and was brought to a better temper.

She returned, and by her behavior softened Sarai, and received more gentle treatment.

The One who saw and understood Hagar’s pain sees ours too.

He will change the atmosphere around us to a more positive one.

Making the unbearable a bit more bearable.

Our reason to keep praising the Lord.

Allowing us to experience His love and the ability to understand and share our feelings to one another.

We can be like Hagar and declare that we have now seen the One who sees and cares about us.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, we know You feel our pains as if they were Your own. Thank You for understanding the challenges we face daily. We know all our tests and trials make it possible to understand and share our feelings with others.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
