Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? Matthew 6:27 KJV
There are many times in our lives when we let things cause us to worry.
They can cause us to have sleepless nights.
Causing us more stress that sometimes takes weeks to go away.
Sometimes we try to talk to others to try to work things out.
But we continue to worry.
In this chapter, there were many who asked questions about their situations.
To one of them, Jesus asked an interesting question regarding what worrying does for any of us.
He asked, “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? (Matthew 6:27 NIV)
It was a way to get us to think about what worrying does for us.
He had already warned us, in v.25: “There is scarcely any sin against which our Lord Jesus more warns his disciples, than disquieting, distracting, distrustful cares about the things of this life.”
We are His disciples, and He was asking the question to get us to realize that it doesn’t aid in making any situation better.
When we are faced with problems, or feel there is about to be one, those are the times we need to take a step back.
Taking a moment to look at the situations and figure out how we want to deal with them.
The first thing should be to pray.
In any situation, we need to trust God before taking any actions.
We can pray to Him for the guidance that we need.
Hoping that it will help us stop worrying.
It will happen when we constantly remind ourselves and take comfort in knowing God never finds Himself stuck in these situations.
He always come through for us.
It may not happen as quickly as we want it too, but it will happen.
Never feel like there is no situation God can handle, just turn it over to Him in trust and confidence.
So, when we feel like it’s time to worry, let us remind ourselves of the inspiring words of King David.
He was facing his own times of difficulties and worries.
He realized many times in his life he needed the assistance of God.
In his times of worry he spoke unto himself, “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken (Psalms 55:22 NIV).
This helped him make it through his times of trouble and worry.
Trust in God.
He knows what we are facing every day. We need only to turn all our cares over to Him.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, may our daily prayers grant us the strength we need to bear any of the troubles we may face. May they grant us the armor we need to fight the temptations that come our way. Letting nothing cause us to worry about the things You have already taken care of. We are trusting wholly in Your wise ways of handling things.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
