There are many ceremonies that honor individuals for their accomplishments.
It is human nature to want recognition for the things we have done.
There is nothing wrong with this.
We all need support, love, and reassurance that we are doing a good thing.
The Bible tells us that we are to honor everyone (1 Peter 2:17).
But this honor is not just with awards and recognition.
Honor is living in a way that our behavior shows high moral standards.
Standards that show God’s love and kindness.
That we are living according to the Word.
That we are doing the right thing regardless of what others are doing.
When we show brotherly love and honor one another, we are wise in all our ways.
When we do things the wrong way, it causes more harm than good.
Our love for God and man, our living by the Word, should be sincere.
When we are not sincere, we dishonor God.
Not only do we fail to honor Him, but we fail to honor the Word and man.
As His Spirit moves within us, let us show brotherly love and worship Him with all our hearts.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, we know that true Christian love will make us take part in the sorrows and joys of each other. Help us to show respect, provide encouragement and give them the love they need. This comes naturally when we honor You.
