And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. Mark 10;44 KJV
Many seek worldly honor and see it as an exciting thing.
They want to be first or the highest in authority.
The things that cause us to be selfish and feel nobody deserves certain things as much as we do.
It is something which the eyes of Christ’s own disciples had many times been blinded by.
When James and John asked Jesus for an esteemed position in His kingdom, and the other 10 disciples heard about it, they began to get angry.
They had a feeling that they were being treated unfairly.
You could say it was because they also wanted to be in a place of authority.
It is not uncommon for someone to want to be in a position of authority and feel they deserve it more than someone else.
If Jesus would gratify all our desires, it would soon appear that everything, no matter what it is, should be given to us.
That we are unwilling to taste of His cup, or to have His baptism.
We would be ruined by having our prayers answered.
In any situation we must follow the example of the Lord.
He did not come to be served, but to serve (v.45).
Our main focus should be to gain the wisdom and grace He desires for us all.
Both of which will teach us to suffer through all things and put our trust in the Lord to provide.
Christ shows the disciples that dominion was generally abused in the world.
That He loves us, and will only give His people what is good for them.
That is why we are not to be jealous of what someone else may have.
But to know that we are blessed with what the Lord desires for us at that time.
With all our hearts continue to do good, because what is done from the heart is what really counts.
Holiness and a Spirit to serve is what He wants from us.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, our care must be, that we may have wisdom and grace to know how to suffer with You; that we may trust You to provide. That when we do we will see the degrees of Your glory and what our true ending shall be.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
