See And Avoid Nets

Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird. Proverbs 1:17 KJV

When we hear the word bird we automatically think of a warm-blooded, egg laying vertebrate.

It is recognized because of its feathers, wings, a beak and it’s ability to fly.

But it also can be defined as a person of a specified kind or character.

In this verse Solomon was referring to wicked people who can be more foolish than the fowls of the air.

That the fowl of the air sometimes have more sense than people.

Making them smart enough to know when to flee anytime they see a net being set up to catch them.

They stay away from anything that would cause them harm.

People often do things the opposite way.

We often rush, with reckless haste, into the devil’s snares.

Even when we know a situation is a dangerous temptation, we can still find ourselves taken in by it.

All because we think it won’t matter or that we won’t get caught.

It is in vain when we think that sin will turn to our advantage.

The way of sin is a down-hill journey.

A journey that none of us can stop by ourselves.

The devil is constantly setting a net in front of us.

That is when we need to take heed to what the Lord is telling us.

A warning to beware and yield not to the evil urges the devil sets before us.

We are to be like the fowl and sense what will do us harm.

We are not to get caught up in anything.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, when temptation tries to overtake us and cause us to go astray, give us the Wisdom we need. Let Your goodness always be there for us. Leading us in Your perfect way.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
