I know this is not exactly how it appears in the Bible, but do you remember the “Golden Rule?”
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
It is a phrase used to remind us how we should treat one another.
We are not to live selfishly, thinking only of ourselves.
Being happy with our achievements is fine.
It is when we continually boast about them is when it becomes a problem.
Such actions lead to bitter conflicts and struggles.
None of us should ever want to be the cause or take part in any of these actions.
We also need to remember that selfishness can be displayed in our thoughts, our words and our actions.
It is one of the many sins we face.
The more we think only of ourselves we have not obtained the knowledge of what the Lord has expressed in the Word.
If we expect to experience the benefit of God’s love, selfishness in every respect must be done away with.
As it is written in Matthew 7:12 KJV:
“Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”
Don’t let selfishness and the things of this world cause us to miss out on the blessings the Lord has for us.
The Word never changes, man does.
Change is in our best interest.
We should ask for forgiveness and change our way of thinking, speaking and doing things.
When we allow the Lord to guide us, then will we see the value of the needs of others as well as our own.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, let us remember how powerful the acts of love and sacrifice can be. That the same love and compassion You have bestowed on us, we are to show the same one to another.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
