Wear It

But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 1 Thessalonians 5:8 KJV

Protection is something we all need each day of our lives.

When we look at the word breastplate, it is described as a device worn over the torso to protect it from injury.

The place where our hearts are found. Our main source of life.

A helmet is described as a piece of protective or defensive armor for the head.

The place where our brains are found. Our main source of thoughts and actions.

In the Bible, the word ‘breastplate’ is used figuratively.

It is used to describe a way protecting oneself from unrighteousness.

Unrighteousness causes our spiritual death.

A helmet is also vital for survival.

It is protecting the brain, the command station for the rest of the body.

If the head is badly damaged, the rest of the armor would be of little use.

God has provided all the spiritual armor we need to face every kind of test and temptation.

The spiritual armor, also known as the three Christian graces, are faith, love, and hope.

When trouble arises faith will dismiss it.
Our belief that the eye of God is always upon us, helps us to make it through everything we encounter in life.

The true and fervent love to God, and the things of God, will keep us watchful. Keeping us from being in a state of unhappiness over our troubles.

If we have hope of salvation, we must take heed of anything that would shake our trust in the Lord.

God has given us the ground on which to build unshaken hope, when we consider, that salvation is by our Lord Jesus Christ.

We should join in prayer and praise one with another.

Giving thanks for the faith, love and hope He has bestowed on us.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with us all.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, Faith, love and hope fills our hearts. You have given us a strong defense to guard our souls. Thank You for the armor that helps us fight against the temptations that come in our lives.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
