When we were growing up, we often heard people say, “That’s so and so’s child.” Our parents’ reputation went along with us and we were expected to live up to their good name.
As Christians, there is another name we bear. It is the name of our Heavenly Father and we are expected to live holy and up to His good name.
To be holy means we received the Lord as our Savior and vow to live so that others will think well of Him. To be holy means bringing credit to our Heavenly Father by what we say and do. It means living so that those who don’t know Him, know Him because they know us.
The Bible speaks more often in terms of character and spiritual growth. That what we are on the inside is more important than what we do on the outside. The heart matters and if we are the right sort of person on the inside, we are more likely to do what God wants on the outside.
We bear the name of God everywhere we go, and that ought to make a difference in the way we live.
The ultimate reason for holiness.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, You are always and forever. The first and the last. All around us, guiding all that we do and say. You are in our deepest thoughts. You are true holiness and joy. The purpose for which we were created. And without You, we have no meaning, no purpose, and no reason for being here. Thank You for always being with us, now and forever.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
