Read: Romans 5:12-21
Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did match more abound. Romans 5:20 KJV
I was sitting in a car shop with my daughter today.
While there we had a wonderful conversation with some of the other customers and the manager.
The atmosphere was so wonderful.
It was a meeting that was meant to be.
As we talked it was revealed that we all had a lot in common.
But the greatest was our relationship with the Lord.
Towards the end of our stay, we were listening to the news.
Those of us that were still there talked about the damage caused by sin entering the world.
How greed, injustice, cruelty and all the ungodly things can be traced back to the days of Adam and Eve.
About how their unwise decision to listen to the serpent.
How it led them to not follow the Lord’s leading opened the door to sin (Genesis 3 KJV).
How everything was so good for them but instead of staying on the path that God had laid out for them, they sinned.
The results of which have been passed down to every generation.
A world full of sin and unrighteousness.
But the good news is that it can be broken when we put our trust in the Lord.
When we decide to repent of our sins and live according to the Word.
In Romans 5, this victory is celebrated.
In this chapter Paul is speaking about the severe damage and grief that is caused by sin.
That every day, what we need is the restoring power of God’s grace.
A grace that conquers all sin.
Some even call it the “must needed” chapter of the New Testament.
“Much needed” because so many need reassurance that no matter what we are going through, there is still victory in the Word.
Paul spoke wisdom unto the people.
He concluded with saying “Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: that as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 5:20,21 KJV).
Our forgiveness became possible through the resurrection victory of Christ.
So, no matter how great our sin is, remember that God’s grace is greater.
We have everything we need in Him.
Fron life to death, His Word has told us about the things to come and how we should manage them.
How good it is to know that because of our faith in God, we will always be kept safe.
It is a great feeling to know that Jesus, through His death and resurrection defeated sin.
If all humanity would heed His Words, we would not have the problems we have today.
His righteousness has given us many advantages to the blessings the Father has for us.
It is up to us to repent of our sins and put our lives in His hands.
It is the greatest opportunity for us to be victorious and lead a sin-free life.
We would be wise and knowledgeable in all our ways.
Watching grace abound all the more in our lives.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that sin has taken a place in our lives since the days of Adam and Eve. We take comfort in knowing that Jesus defeated sin on the cross. Giving each of us a chance to repent of our sins and find grace with You. May we all take the opportunity to come to You and receive the blessings You have in store for each of us. Thank You for the sacrifice You made so grace would abound in our lives.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
