And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know 1 Corinthians 8:2 KJV
Knowledge is something we receive every day.
It is obtained through our learning and experiences.
The knowledge we gain is to be used in a wise manner. To be used in a practical, intelligent way.
With all the knowledge we receive, we are not to let it overtake our lives to the point we forget the true purpose is for our lives.
The same holds true when it comes to our spiritual knowledge.
When we begin to focus more on how excellent or important, we are it divides and destroys us (1 Corinthians 8:1,11 KJV).
It is not just what we learn about the Lord, but how we live by what we have learned.
We all know what it means to get sidetracked. To forget what is most important.
Our efforts to learn the truth about Christian living are hindered.
We are not to lose focus.
We are not to forget our real purpose in life.
Gaining knowledge is good but not if it keeps us from loving God and those whom Christ died for (1 Corinthians 8:1-3,11-13 KJV).
No matter how much knowledge we gain it means nothing if we do not show an understanding or awareness of the needs of others.
The Word has told us, “When [we] sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, [we] sin against Christ” (1 Corinthians 8:12 KJV).
As Christians. Sinning against Christ is the last thing we want to do.
To miss out on all the blessings He has in store for our lives.
The Lord wants us to never forget that knowledge is good but our love for Him and our brethren has greater importance.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, we know that knowledge is good, but let us not miss the point of knowing what it means to live by the right doctrines. Each day You are teaching us not to be caught up in ourselves to the point that we forget about You and other followers. Let us use what we learn to show more love to You and those around us.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
