And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him. Hebrews 12:5 KJV
Learning from our mistakes is something we all will face in this journey called life.
But we should never feel like we are alone.
There will always be someone in our lives that desires the best for us.
They don’t fail to speak to us on a regular basis.
Especially, when they feel things may be going in the wrong direction.
It is like receiving a “verbal spanking”.
It may seem harsh at times, but they do it out of concern and love.
Just like any parent would.
Always wanting to show that they truly care about their children or other loved ones.
The same holds true in our relationship with God, our Heavenly Father.
A “spiritual spanking” is His way of putting a divine disciplinary and corrective punishment on us.
He knows that if we don’t receive one, things will keep us from running the Christian race, in the right direction.
He has a great love for us and only wants the best for our lives.
His ways of correcting us are for the purpose of improving us morally.
The Father wants to show us how to be constant and persevere in doing the right thing.
We achieve a great deal when we constantly look to the Lord.
So, when we are weary and faint in our minds, let us remember how Jesus suffered to save us from eternal misery.
“Despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him” (Hebrews 12:5 KJV).
Our thoughts are strengthened by His chastising and holy affections.
Everything He does in our lives is for our good.
For us, He wants what is best.
He loves and cares for us.
God’s chastening is not cruel. It is just His way of correcting us.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, being Your child should keep us from fainting. We can face any trial with You on our side. We are to remain steadfast. Always looking to the Lord for the support and guidance that we need. He is our strength. The One that helps in keeping us from our carnal desires. Thank You for constantly correcting us. You are a wise and gracious Father. Always looking out for us.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
