Matthew 1:23 KJV
Isaiah had prophesied that a child would be born who would be called Immanuel, meaning “God with us” (Isaiah 7:14).
Matthew tells us about the ultimate fulfillment of this prophecy. Jesus, Emmanuel, the One born by the power of the Holy Spirit to be God with us. Born to save all mankind.
Those whom Christ saves, He saves from their sins, from the guilt of sin by the merit of His death, and from the power of sin by the Spirit of His grace.
Joseph and Mary are prime examples of the desire of God to use us as examples of the love, grace and mercy He wishes to bestow on all mankind. To show that He is with us.
Christ is always with us. No matter the situation we can hold fast to His promises.
Jesus, Emmanuel – God with us.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we thank You for sending Your Son. For letting Him be, “God with us.” Because of His sacrifice we have life. May we take the proper steps to live accordingly and not let His birth, death and resurrection be in vain.
