It is not uncommon that we, as Christians, try to do too much in the way of church activities or other worthwhile pursuits. Not taking the time to rest.
The disciples had assisted in feeding the multitude, were worn-out and tired.
The Lord spoke a word to them expressing His knowledge of their need to recharge physically and spiritually.
We are sometimes doing so much that we feel we have lost contact with the Lord.
Yes, we are doing the Lord’s work, but are we looking at the need for our own individual time with Him?
The Lord knows that our physical and spiritual batteries need to be recharged and it is done by getting some rest and spending some alone time with Him.
If our lives leave us no time to rest or nurture our spiritual lives, we need to slow down and rethink how we are doing things.
The Lord does not ask that we constantly be on the go, sometimes He wants us to rest and take time with Him.
When we do, our souls and spirits are recharged.
Thus giving us the ability to continue to tell others about how the Lord came into the world, not only to restore, but to preserve and nourish our spiritual lives.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, just like You told the disciples to take time to rest and recharge, Your Word is telling us to do the same. That when we do we are more able to spread the Word. Thank You for showing us that it is okay to rest, spend some alone time with You and recharge.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
