Wanting to hold on to life is a natural thing. We are all inclined to be silent when it comes to talking about death and moving into the unknown.
In this text, the psalmist, even though he knew the Lord, wanted to hold on tight to life.
There are many Christians, old and young, who long to meet God and be done with the sufferings and temptations of this earth, but have mixed feelings about dying.
This is when we have to remind ourselves that Jesus won victory over the grave by His own death and resurrection.
He has prepared a place of peace, joy and happiness for all who believe and live according to His Word.
Facing death with much confidence is our way of showing that it does not take away our love of life, but we know we have an even greater life waiting for us when we see Jesus.
Our God is an everlasting God and when we see Jesus, what a day of rejoicing that will be.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know all things are changing, dying, and perishing, but Jesus lives, and all is secure. You have told us in the Word, that because He lives we shall live also. Let us not overlook the assurance this psalm contains of a happy end to all of our trials. Thank You Lord.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
