Really Outstanding How Spectacular Humility and Greatness Works Together

Read: Matthew 20:20-28

But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister. Matthew 20:26 KJV

The meaning of true greatness is shown when we humbly do something for someone else.

They can be the simplest of gestures that make a difference in someone else’s life.

It is best received when we do not let pride get in our way.

This was a lesson that was powerfully demonstrated and taught by our Savior.

He told the disciples, “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave.”

That “just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:26-28 NIV).

He was warning that a desire for greatness on a human level only causes trouble among brethren.

It does not last for those who are only looking to obtain world fame.

It only lasts for the time spent in this lifetime.

Greatness only truly lasts for those who serve in Jesus’ name.

Doing things on a Spiritual Level the way He did.

When Jesus walked on earth as a man, He could have shown His greatness right then and there.

Instead, He humbled Himself, washed feet, welcomed children, and willingly gave His life for all mankind.

He did it to deliver us from the mentality of being self-centered and sinful in our ways.

To show that there is more to be gotten in our lifetime when we live according to what the Father is telling us.

We can always do great things like the Lord did, but only when we are willing to do the little things, He places in our hearts to do for others.

His examples should increase our belief as to the truthfulness of what He says.

Working in humility is how great things happen.

Great things are what He desires for all to receive.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we know that a desire for greatness can sometimes cause hurt. The way we try to achieve it can cause more evil than good. We are thankful to know that in You greatness can be a positive thing. When we are living according to the Word, our humble nature takes control. Turning everything, we do into something of greatness. Ones that represent who You are in our lives. Who You desire to be in all our lives. Thank You for teaching us what it means to be humble.

In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
