And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. Luke 9:61 KJV
We are in the middle of doing something, someone asks us to do something for them and we respond “I’ll do it in a minute, but first…”
Moments like these happen to us all.
This is the type of response we often give the Lord when He is calling us to do something.
The inner prompting begins to feel more urgent.
But we continue to put it off.
We keep promising the Lord that we will take care of it in a minute.
We miss out on many blessings and opportunities because of things we wanted to do first.
When we finally say okay to the Lord, we find out how important it was to respond and do His will at that time.
In Luke 9, Jesus is teaching us that some things can wait.
That when He places something in our hearts to do, we need to do it right then.
To reap the harvest of blessings that He has in store for all of us.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, there is a call on each of our lives. You have chosen us to do it because You know we can. We each need to answer. Let us respond “Yes”, lay aside what we were doing, and follow You. Our obedience is needed to help others learn about the blessings that come from being saved and following the Word. Obeying is best thing we can do. There are blessings waiting to overflow in our lives.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
