Read: John 3:22-36
He must increase, but I must decrease. John 3:30 KJV
We all have things we want to achieve in life.
We are good at what we do, but there comes a time when someone else may need to take the lead.
Those are the times when we need to set aside any selfish ambitions and really see the good of others.
It does not mean your abilities are being overlooked.
It is just showing that we understand that we all have something to contribute.
It shows that we have an attitude that desires to please the Lord.
John the Baptist is just one of the examples of this happening in our lives.
When we read John 3:22-36 KJV, we see how John reacted when the crowds were no longer with him.
They began to follow Jesus.
John did not take offense to this.
He said, “He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30 KJV).
He knew that the Lord had come to do a more important work.
It did not offend him that Jesus would increase in honor and influence.
John had no problem with the status he held in life.
He knew that there were still others who would need baptizing.
That he would still be doing work for the Kingdom.
This is how we all should feel.
We should be able to set aside any selfish ambitions.
It may be a challenging thing for some to learn, but it is in our best interest.
It is a great feeling when we can be happy to see others elevated.
To know that we are working to see others learn of the goodness of the Lord.
Spreading the Word that everlasting life is ours when we keep our faith in Him.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that it is Your desire for us to know we all have a place in this journey called life. That when we forget about ourselves and focus on You life is easier. That everlasting life comes when we keep our faith in You. Letting You increase in our lives. Making it where we set aside any selfish ambitions and partake of the salvation You so freely give. Thank You for all that You do for us.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
