LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am. Psalms 39:4 KJV
When things go wrong, those are the times we remember what our parents or someone else with the same wisdom has told us.
They told us things like:
“You better be careful what you ask for and do.”
“You better think before you speak.”
“Everybody that smiles in your face, is not your friend.”
Because, at the end of the day things were not so pleasant, we wish we had listened.
Wishing we could take it all back, hadn’t wasted so much time and could start our day over.
According to Scripture, our time and how we use it is important.
“But this I say, brethren, the time is short,” was Paul’s reminder to us all. (1 Corinthians 7:29 KJV).
Our time to do God’s work is limited.
We must use it wisely.
We are urged to “[make] the best use of the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:16 ESV).
We are to do away with any evil thoughts and habits that try to keep us from using our time wisely (Psalms 39:2 KJV).
Being careful how we behave.
Be mindful of what we speak; bridle our tongues, because sometimes it may be necessary for us to be silent.
Those who mean us no good will listen to what we say and, if they can, will try to turn our words around to make things worse.
To put stumbling blocks in our way.
We must also learn to have patience.
Impatience is a sin that causes us to do things in a hurry, utilizing a great deal of our time, with results that are not pleasing.
Each day we are to strive to do what is pleasing to the Lord.
Praying like David, that the Lord would enlighten our minds by the Holy Spirit.
That He would fill our hearts with His grace.
So, that no matter the day or hour, we are ready for His return (Psalms 39:4).
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, we want “to know [our] end, and the measure of [our] days”. Not wasting any time but using our time on earth wisely. Thanking You for every moment You have given us. Let us continue to be the vessel that gives You honor and glory for the knowledge on using our time wisely.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
