Sit Or Serve?

For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.  Luke 22:27 KJV

A servant is an individual who performs duties for a person or in the home of a master or personal employer.

Some look at it as being unfair or demeaning. But it is not for those who perform their duties willingly and well.

This holds true for all of us.

If we are to be effective in the Lord’s service, we must be a willing servant who performs their duties well.

The Lord was a devoted and helpful follower, who was showing the disciples and the world that being a tireless servant of God was not unfair or demeaning. That it had great worth and meaning.

And just like the Lord, in our pursuit to serve God and strive for eternal happiness, we must expect to be attacked by Satan.

We are not to let him destroy, disgrace or cause us distress.

We are to remain confident in the Word and know that our labor is not in vain.

It is a blessing to be able to sit at the table, but an even better blessing to be able to serve.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, help us to have a spirit of serving.  Showing others the benefits that come from doing God’s will. If You could humble Yourself for our sakes, we should be willing and able to do it too. There is nothing unfair or demeaning about a blessing to be able to serve.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
