Spiritual Armour – Wear It Well

Read: Romans 13:8-14

The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Romans 13:12 KJV

When we think about night, we think about a period from dusk to dawn when no sunlight is seen.

Then as time goes by, we begin to see the first appearances of light in the morning.

There is a breaking of dawn.

In this chapter, Paul is telling all Christians that, “now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed” (v.11).

Telling the Christians of that time about how they should live in these moments.

How it is a battle that they can win but they must stop doing any works that are of a dark nature.

The same holds true with our lives.

We all will have times when there will be some dark days in our life, and we feel like all hope is gone.

We are also in a battle against sin and all the darkness that it brings.

A darkness that if we allow it to take over our lives, will cause us to go against all that the Lord has told us and make us miss out on all the blessings He has for us.

That is why we must stay prayed up and, in the Word.

We are to put on the “armour of light” (v.12).

The best weapon to defeat our dark days and cause the sun to shine in our lives.

When we do this, we will have new hopes and a better outlook in our lives.

We are no longer a people of darkness, but a people of light.

Ones that have taken on the spiritual armour of light.

The Light being our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, let us be mindful of how we do things and the way in which we do them. There will be times when things seem dark and we feel there will be no end. Those are the times we have to remember that after the moments of darkness, when we have prayed and given it to the Lord, the sun will shine and everything will be alright. You are our Light and the night is nearly over. Thank You for the Word and the reminders that the day is almost here.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
