For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 1 Thessalonians 4:14 KJV
I have treasured memories of gatherings with family and friends when my children were young.
How the adults would talk into the night and the children would be playing until they got tired and fell asleep on the couch or the floor.
When it was time to leave, we would gather them up and get them to the car, where they often fell back to sleep.
When we got home, the oldest would walk into the house and I would carry my youngest one in.
Still sleepy, I would get them ready for bed.
I would kiss them goodnight and turn out the lights. Leaving the little night light on.
In the morning when they awaken, they were at home.
That is what the Lord was telling us in this passage concerning our death and resurrection.
That there will be a time in which we sleep in Him (v.14).
It is natural for us to grieve over the death of our loved ones and friends.
Our happiness comes when we remember we all shall meet and remain together.
We will all slumber and awake in our Eternal Home.
We are to support one another during those times of sorrow.
Helping one another envision that the Lord was bending over our loved one in their final night on earth, tucking them in and kissing them goodnight.
Remembering, that one day He is going to do the same to us.
Some of us will be caught up in the Rapture.
But whatever our final moments may be, we can enjoy the fact that we will be with the Lord, to see Him, and live with Him and our loved ones forever.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, there will be a day when some of us will fall asleep and awaken in Your presence. Let our loved ones and friends find comfort in knowing that we are in Your loving arms, sleeping in peace. Hoping to see them when You call us all home.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
