The Lord Will Provide

And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen. Genesis 22:14 KJV

It doesn’t take much for our anxiety to increase throughout the day.

We are constantly thinking about all the things we must do and how we are going to do it.

Funds are low, bills are due, and we just don’t know how we will take care of them and put food on the table.

It is not uncommon for us to have to restructure how we do things, especially if it is in our best interest to do so.

Just when you conclude what you will have to do and the sacrifice you must make, someone comes to you with a blessing.

It may seem like it was a long time coming, but God will always provide for His children.

When He does, we should be forever grateful and still make the necessary changes in our lives to keep the blessings coming.

Abraham went through a far more difficult situation with his son Isaac.

He was asked to take Isaac and sacrifice him on a mountain (vv.1-2).

During his three days journey up the mountainside, Abraham had plenty of time to change his mind and disobey God’s command, but he didn’t (vv.3-4).

One can only wonder about the anxiety Abraham must have felt as he tied each knot that bound Isaac to the altar. Not to mention how he felt as he raised his knife (vv 9-10).

What a relief it must have been when the angel of God stopped him (vv. 11-12).

And provided a sacrifice, a ram, caught in some bushes (v.13).

God tested Abraham’s faith.

Abraham stood the test and proved himself faithful.

When we are going through, we should remember Abraham.

His actions should be an encouragement to us all to cheerfully trust in God and obey Him.

He is our Jehovah-jireh. The Lord will provide; at the right time, to the very second.

The Lord will always have His eye upon His people, in their straits and distresses, that in do season, He will give us the help we need.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Thank You Lord for Your provisions. Help us to trust that You will provide, even when it seems like all hope is gone and we feel like we have been waiting too long.  Remembering You are Jehovah-jireh and will provide.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
