Read: 2 Corinthians 1:3-7
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 KJV
The question is:
Do you know what can mend a broken heart?
When sadness darkens your day, or when grief takes a toll on you, do you know where you can find comfort or help?
We all know that human wisdom and the care of family, friends, or co-workers can provide some of the healing we need.
And as helpful as their encouragement and support may be, we soon realize that the hurt we feel inside is still there.
We are thankful for their support, but it is also good to know that there is One who has the power to mend broken hearts.
He is “the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort” (2 Corinthians 1:3 KJV).
He knew that we live in a world where heartbreak can be found.
That is why He sent His Son from Heaven’s perfect environment to live in it.
We know that “He was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15 KJV).
He sympathizes with our weaknesses.
If something is troubling you, “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee” (Psalms 55:22 KJV).
The Lord is able to give peace to the troubled and calm our souls.
He desires that we pour out our sorrows to Him.
He alone will be able to give us true relief from our aching souls.
He will do it in His own time and according to His wisdom.
That is why we are encouraged to come boldly to the throne of grace.
It is where we can obtain the mercy, wisdom, and grace we need to help us in our times of trouble.
He is the “God of all Comfort.”
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we all have had a moment when we feel we are going through a valley of weeping, sorrow, and pain. We know You have told us not to let our hearts be troubled. That we can find the sweetest comfort in You. That You will speak peace to our souls. All by the Holy Spirit that dwells within every believer. Thank You for being a “God of Comfort.” Always there to uphold and sustain us through it all. We are truly thankful.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
