Time to Make Sure You Fulfill His Powerful Doctrine

Read: 2 Timothy 4:1-8

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.

2 Timothy 4:3 KJV

Many things in life come with instructions.

Ones that need to be followed to prevent any danger or harm to the person.

There are those who will feel they already know how to do something.

But sometimes we need a “wake-up” call.

Because things in life change.

Some for the better; some for the worst.

There will always be those who do not want to be reminded of the changes they need to make.

They only want to do things their way.

They do not value the knowledge that still can be obtained throughout their lifetime.

The same holds true in our spiritual lives.

There are many who place a low value on the truths to be obtained through the Scriptures.

The Apostle Paul was warning Timothy that a time was coming when people would turn away from hearing the truth.

That they would grow weary of the gospel of Christ and the teaching being brought to them (2 Timothy 4:3-4 KJV).

He told him that false teachings would begin to increase and be embraced by many.
It would increase because of the people’s desires to please the needs of the flesh.

Warning that the people only wanted to be entertained and desired only those teachings that left them with good feelings about themselves.

Paul charged Timothy to be diligent and combat this by teaching doctrines according to God’s Word.

Reminding him that there would be many who would not hear sound doctrine.

That the purpose of his instructions was to correct, rebuke, and encourage others (2 Timothey 4:2 KJV).

A purpose that holds true to this day.

The crown of righteousness was purchased by the righteousness of Christ.

As believers, we are to be like Christ.

We are to love all souls.

We are called to teach and obey the Word of God.

We are to be faithful.

Taking every opportunity to stand on the Word and not let the things of the world prevail against us.

Despite what the world is doing, as one of His disciples, let us continue to take comfort in speaking of His goodness.

We are not to give up on spreading the Word.

Until the day of His return, there is someone who still needs to hear the Word.

There is still someone who will accept the teaching of sound doctrine.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Savior, Satan desires us to turn from Your ways. To do the things of the flesh. The temptations are all around us. Continue to help us to spot our errors and correct them. To always stand on the Word. We know that with You all things are possible. Help us to show others that the ways of the world can be defeated when we put our trust in You.

In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
