A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. Proverbs 25:11 KJV
It is amazing how one word can influence us.
Think about all the times when one word caught your attention.
At church, an “Amen!” can encourage the pastor.
Maybe even wake a few listeners and get them to get more involved in the service.
In some sports, like baseball, an umpire’s “Safe!” or “Out!” can turn the emotions of those who are present or somewhere watching the game.
The same can be said about the announcers at football games when they shout “interception!” or “Touchdown!”
We all need to think about what encouragement or discouragement our words have on others.
The Bible tells us that our words can do a great deal of good or a great deal of bad.
They way we speak to someone, our tone of voice, can influence how someone responds (Proverbs 15:1 KJV).
Sometimes someone is having a bad day and a nicely spoken word can make it better (Proverbs 12:25 KJV).
A well-chosen word can speak volumes to someone’s day.
They lessen strife and lovingly heal and bless.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, we know a word spoken the wrong way can cause harm and strife. But a loving and kind word can lessen someone’s stress. Our words have the power to heal and bless. May we be the one to use our words wisely.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
