Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? Matthew 6:27 KJV
As a native Ohioan, I would enjoy seeing the beauty of the snow when it first covered our yard.
How it rested on the tree branches and just made things look so calm and peaceful.
Knowing how heavy and thick the snow could sometimes be, I had to wonder how the tree branches were able to carry all that weight.
How long would it be before the branches would break?
The more I thought about it, I thought about all the heavy weights we carry in our lives.
All the burdens, worries, and stresses that we may shoulder during our lifetime.
The Lord has told us that we don’t have to worry about the things we do or do not have while we are here on earth.
They are only temporary.
He has told us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, that when we are tempted to do certain things, He will provide a way out.
That we are to release all our fearful thoughts to Him.
Everything that is weighing us down.
We are to give it all Him.
He is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe and there is no situation that is so heavy to which He will not bring us through.
He loves, cares and will always provide for us.
So, we don’t have to waste our precious time worrying about anything. (vv. 19-32).
We know it’s not always easy to do, and so does the Savior.
We are tempted to keep worrying all the time.
We are faced with overwhelming troubles and things that cause our shoulders to feel weighed down.
But we should never forget that the Savior wants us to always come to Him first before we do anything else.
Trusting Him, that in His presence, along with His provisions, we can live by faith one day at a time (vv.33-34).
We don’t have to worry about what tomorrow will bring and how we are going to handle it.
Our trust in the Lord defeats all worries and provides us with good things.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Savior, You have warned us about letting sins that weigh heavy in our lives and cause us to be distracted and forget that You are in control. Help us to stay focused on Your Word. We know that when our minds are stayed on You, it is the best cure for all the worries we face in the world. Our true happiness comes when we receive You and put our trust in You and Your wise teachings. Thank You for being there to supply all needs.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
