Be Merry Not Sorrowful

Read: Proverbs 15:10-16 KJV

A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. Proverbs 15:13 KJV

Our facial expressions can tell those around us how we may be feeling.

It is an indication of our mood, emotion, or character.

No one should desire to have a spirit that is  gloomy, impatient, or unthankful.

We should all try to strive to have our atmosphere stay in a positive state.

Smiling is one way, but not the only way to accomplish this.

When our ways seem troublesome, Psalms 4 tells us some ways we can overcome them.

In times of distress, we can ask the Lord for relief and mercy (v.1).

Find comfort in knowing we are among those who are favored by Him, remembering that He hears us anytime we call (v.3).

No matter the day or the hour, we can acknowledge our feelings and be quiet before Him (v.4).

We can do what is right and always trust in Him to give us everything we need to be happy in life (vv.5,7).

Making it possible for us to rest in the assurance of His peace and safety (v.8).

Out trust in God lightens our despair and give us inner peace.

A heart touched by grace brings joy beyond compare.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, in our lowest moments help us to look up to You. Knowing that in You we can find the peace and inner gladness You desire for us. Letting our facial expression show that we have not a broken spirit but a merry heart.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
