But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. James 1:22 KJV
There are many times when we are given sound advice.
We hear what is being said, but may not take it to heart and do it.
It goes in one ear and out the other.
Thinking we can do it on our own, our way.
The same holds true in our Spiritual lives.
It would do us no good if we heard a sermon every day of the week, rested on hearing it but did not apply it to our lives.
The Lord has told us, that to only be hearers makes us self-deceivers.
That we need to not only be hearers of the Word but doers also.
We need to attend services, open our Bibles, hear what the Lord has said and obey with joy.
In hearing the word, we look into it for counsel and direction.
When we study it, it turns to our spiritual life into the main influence in all we do.
In keeping the law and Word of God, we are, and shall be, blessed in all our ways.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, many times we take delight in reading and hearing the Word. When we hear it, we acknowledge that it is true. We know that it is of little use if we don’t apply it to our lives. May we prayerfully obey it with joy.
