Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13 KJV
There will be times in our lives when we are afraid to speak out about what we know to be the truth about the Lord.
The person or people we need to speak with may have a personality that is not pleasing or one we desire to be around.
They speak harsh words about others.
They refuse to acknowledge that someone else may have better knowledge about things.
Because of this we don’t take the opportunity to tell them about the Lord, we keep silent.
But, as Christians, the more we think about it, we felt bad.
Knowing we had missed the chance to do our part for the kingdom.
Peter felt this way when in the temple courtyard.
He had the chance to tell the people about the Lord, but instead denied knowing Him three times, then wept bitterly (Luke 22:54-62 KJV).
After the Lord’s resurrection, He had a face to face with Peter and lovingly forgave and restored him (John 21:15-19 KJV).
With this experience, Peter went back and stood in the same temple where he had denied knowing the Lord.
This time, he boldly declared his knowledge of Him.
He no longer worried about what others might think or say.
He was standing on what he knew to be true.
When John and himself were brought before the high priest, Peter spoke with courage and boldness (Acts 4:1-13).
Peter had turned the place of defeat into a place of victory.
We too can have the victory.
When we find ourselves in a position of wanting to remain silent, remember God gives us the grace to speak out about the Lord.
We all need to figure out our place or places of defeat.
Talk to the Lord about them.
Admitting all our fears.
Asking Him to give us the courage to witness for Him.
The Lord has the power to turn our place of defeat into a place of total victory.
Always remembering the rewards that come from our witnessing far outweighs the risks we take.
Pledge today to be the one who goes and makes known who the Lord is.
What He can do for their lives.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, no matter the day or the hour we are to declare our knowledge of You. There will be times when we feel that because of the way someone else is acting, they won’t listen to what we say. Therefore, we never take a moment to talk with them about You. About whom You are in our lives. Give us the courage we need to speak boldly no matter where we are. Letting the knowledge You have planted in our hearts flow freely and lovingly. We will not be defeated. Our walk and our talk will be ones of victory.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
